Description :	Croiseur protégé mixte gréé en trois-mâts carré et pourvu d'une machine à vapeur à hélice ; coque taillée dans un seul bloc de bois, évidé en haut, sur lequel sont rapportés des planchettes qui figurent le pont et les gaillards

Historique :	Le Jean Bart, croiseur de première classe, commencé à Rochefort en 1886 et lancé en 1889, fut mis en service actif en 1891 et s'échoua en 1907 ; Marcel Georges Joseph Raffault, né à Saint-Pierre-d'Oléron en 1869, servit probablement à bord de 1889 à 1891 et en profita pour confectionner cette maquette ; elle n'est qu'une représentation très infidèle de l'original.
